Changi is an area located at the eastern end of Singapore. The area has an interesting landmarks, such as Changi Village, Changi Prison, and Changi International Airport, with a hub at Changi Point Changi area. The name comes from Chengai Changi, a tall tree (Blanocarpus heimii) who once grew in this region. This place is the beach and popular picnic area for locals.

66 men of Chinese civilians were killed by soldiers hojo Kempei (additional military police) in coastal Japan Changi Beach on February 20, 1942. They are some of the tens of thousands of people who died during the Sook Ching operation to get rid of the Japanese elements of the alleged anti--Japan in the Chinese population in Singapore between February 18 to March 4, 1942.

Land of the Big Red Beach, a few hundred meters to the south (now part of Changi Airport runway), is one of the locations to commemorate the event when more than a thousand young men died in the time period Chinese Japanese resistance.
